IT'S SIMPLY SUMMER!

IT IS SUMMER TIME.  SCHOOL IS OUT.

THE REAL WORK HAS BEGUN.

We have finally made it to summer! SMILES ALL AROUND! For some people summer is a time to lay on your basement floor, eating Oreos, drinking an ice coffee and moaning about the heat. Doesn't sound so bad right? Well, they're unfortunate. When summer swings around for us it is packed. And when I say packed, I mean packed, like a box of Pringles. Correction, a cylinder of Pringles.
Vegetables must be picked, sprouts must be watered, beds must be weeded, CSA's have to be put together, and a ton more.

Our plants are grown with lots of love and a lot of hard work.
My mom is a superstar.
Single mom with five kids, ten thousand chickens, five turkeys, four horses, two dogs, and acres and acres sowed land. All mostly because of my mom. THANK YOU MOMMY :)  But obviously she can't do it all alone.
MAMA ZAN
My big brother. Well let's just say he's pretty chill. Here's a funny story for you:
So Otto, my brother, was walking down the dark streets of NYC and pretty much what happened was some big tall guy thought he was gorgeous and handed him a business card. That man is now my brothers modeling agent and right now he's off in Milan, Italy striking poses and living his twenties. Otto randomly gets called away for photo shoots and runways. So one spring weekend my brother was home working his tail off planting sweet potatoes. Then he got a call, they needed him to be in France the very next day.
He planted five hundred sweet potatoes, and left, dressed in his wet muddy pants with dirt on his hands and under his fingernails.
Yep, thats Otto for yah. :) I couldn't ask for a better brother, or mom. Or a better family in general.
Back to the garden... Well right now it's raining but the weather has been beautiful and the plants have been growing.
 LETTUCE THANK THE SUN. (:

TURN THAT FROWN UPSIDE DOWN. ONIONS!!!!!!

MY LOVELY SISTER LUCY GOOSY.
So, the garden is growing, the sun is shining, well soon it will be, and everybody has a smile on their face.
Summer is just great isn't it? It's simply amazing. Here at Simple Livin' Farm we like to work hard and accomplish tasks. Trust me though, it wouldn't ever work if there was no play. (: THANKS FOR READING THE BLOG. COME AND SEE THE GARDEN.

Simply Live

Welcome to Simple Livin' Farm! Simplicity is what we strive for, which isn't always a simple thing to do.Simple Livin' Farm is a family run farm and has been for almost three years now. Our goal is simply to provide local food grown and raised with love.
It all started with a little bit of pixie dust.
Actually as the story goes on one fine day my mom found a bumper sticker. Yes, I know what you must be thinking, that there was some inspirational quote and it gave her a revelation and she was like "Oh, this would be a dandy thing to do!" Well that is sort of the gist.
Humble beginnings...
This is the one and only bumper sticker that started it all.
Well you may need a bit of background, first of all my mom has been a gardener for most of her life, flowers, vegetables, anything that has some sort of root and can survive on water and sunlight. Ever since I was little there was always dried herbs hanging from the ceiling and sprouts growing under heat lamps. Our house is like a doll size green house. Without the doll size. Okay so now that you know this back to the story...

Mahatma Gandhi once said,
"Live simply so that others may simply live."

When my mom caught eye of that bumper sticker she just had to bring it home to my big brother. From then on it was Simple Livin' Farm.

"Mama Zan",(otherwise known as my mom)

The gardens are located in central Vermont. It has expanded from sharing vegetables with neighbors to a full blown CSA, (Community Supported Agriculture). Over the summer Simple Livin' Farm has attended The Farmers Market in Woodstock and South Royalton.

At the markets we provide veggies, greens, home-made treats, and even plant starters for you.
Everything for market is squeezed in the back of my big brother's little truck.
Time for a lunch break.
